    APPETITE FOR GROWING

Appetite For Change is partnering with the Jordan Area Community Council and North Minneapolis commnunity members to pilot a community garden during the 2012 growing season.  The Appetite For Growing Garden is located at 1722 26th Ave N, on the corner of 26th Ave and Knox Ave North. If you are a resident of North Minneapolis and are interested in growing food for your family, friends or neighbors to eat, please contact us.  No financial contribution is required if you live in North Minneapolis.

So far the Appetite For Growing Garden consists of 6 raised beds filled with rich soil and compost.  Neighborhood kids helped us turn an 11 cubic yard mountain of soil into 6 beautifully filled vegetable garden plots.  We planted veggies ranging from tomotoes, eggplant and peppers to collard greens, okra, tons of fresh herbs and the kid's favorite...Watermelon!  Our garden is a communal style garden so any of the families who contribute to caring for the garden can take free fruits and vegetables.

We are excited to be providing a commnuity space for gathering learning and collaboration around healthy foods, connecting with nature and children being able to learn where their food actually comes from.  Not boxes, cans, or even the grocery store!
