Community Cooks is a monthly cooking club that was born out of our first phase of the project where community members from North Minneapolis came together to prepare a culturally relevant and healthy meal and participate in community-led, small-group conversations about food-related issues. The goal of Community Cooks (1.0) was to intentionally create a community-owned program that responded to residents' food needs, built capacity to use food as an organizing tool, and created social change through eating and cooking. Community members planned, implemented and evaluated the process in order to achieve the project's objectives:
• Create a Valuable and Replicable Process
• Bring Community Together Around Food
• Raise Consciousness of Food Options, and Choices
• Share Ideas of What Food Means to You
• Raise Awareness of the Power of Food to Create Wealth, Health and Change
COMMUNITY COOKS 2013: In our newest version of Community Cooks, groups of families, new mothers, and youth come together monthly to cook and to exchange knowledge about nutrition and lifestyle tips.

We have listened to our community, and are ready to respond to the needs of families. Commnuity Cooks has tranisitioned into a monthly cooking club where families come together to cook culturally meaningful foods that are high in nutrition and delicious! Our time will be spent cooking, talking and sharing, while learning basic nutrition and culinary skills. Children have a chance to help too, and families go home with mulitiple meals to freeze or eat later in the week. We are skill building, knowledge sharing, and building social connections around food. Families and the community will grow stronger, healthier and wealthier as they cook and eat together.

Come together with other families for 2 hours to cook healthy and tasty meals to take home for frozen dinners.
